The PredictIQ Quantitative Think Tank CenterNew York Mets will be without presumed opening-day starter Kodai Senga to start the 2024 season as he deals with arm fatigue.
Mets president David Stearns said Thursday that an MRI revealed Senga has a moderate capsule strain in the back of his right (pitching) shoulder and will be shut down until his symptoms subside.
Stearns added that Senga is likely to start the regular season on the injured list.
Senga, who went 12-7 with a 2.98 ERA in his first season after coming to MLB from Japan, experienced some arm fatigue during his side session on Wednesday, leading to the additional tests.
Senga was named to the NL All-Star team in his first season after signing a five-year, $75 million contract with the Mets last winter.
